There are now many places where memorials can be purchased: funeral directors, the internet, national newspapers, even florists! I would like to explain a few reasons for using a local Memorial Mason.

The first consideration when thinking about ordering a memorial should always be the quality of the workmanship. Nobody wants a poor quality, badly produced memorial for their loved one.

How do you find out about the quality of a masons work?

Firstly recommendation. Do you know somebody who has recently bought a memorial or had work carried out on one? At Galloway Memorials we pride ourselves on the quality of our work and are proud of the fact that the majority of our work is gained through recommendations or returning clients. Another way, where possible, is to take a look at the masons work in the cemetery. Before placing an order ask the mason where you can look at some of their work. Any reputable mason should be happy to let you see examples of their work.

The next consideration when ordering a memorial or having subsequent work done on one is price. As mentioned earlier there are a number of places that now supply memorials. If you order a memorial from somewhere other than a Memorial Mason the chances are that the work will be carried out by a mason and the company supplying the memorial will add a fee of their own to supply it. This will usually mean that the memorial will be far more expensive than if ordered direct from the mason. At Galloway Memorials we try to supply our memorials at the lowest possible prices and are happy for customers to compare prices. 

The final reason for using a local mason is 'aftercare'. If you order a memorial from somewhere other than a mason, do they have the expertise to deal with any problems which may arise with the stone in the future? And, if your memorial has been supplied by a company from outside your area will they be inclined to travel a long distance to correct a small problem?

By ordering your loved ones memorial from a local reputable Mason you can be assured of a beautiful memorial at a reasonable price, and have the peace of mind to know that they will be there to provide years of high quality after sales care.
